Whatever happened to “Anipalooza”?

When JACON announced they were ending last year, many fans (and some of the JACON staff) inquired as to whether or not Wasabi Anime would continue to carry the proverbial torch for a spring anime event.  The idea seemed sound enough – and the plan was to host a one day festival to celebrate anime fandom’s continued success in the Orlando area.

As 2009 continued on, we became more and more aware of the fan convention saturation in Florida hitting a new high.  By the time 2010 rolled around, the Sunshine State had hit a staggering 33 announced events in that year. There are already plenty of great and successful anime events to go to – and we’ve made the decision to help enhance the pre-existing ones in order to help them succeed even further.

So the Anipalooza project is currently on hold… for now.  We have a couple of ideas on how to package it into something new, but don’t look for it in Orlando in the spring of 2010.

Thanks for all the emails and support – and we look forward to see many of you at our other events this year.
